Football continued its impressive start of the season with a 43-8 thrashing of Hampton to back up a dominant 38-7 win over Butler. The Titans scored on their opening two possessions to get off to an early 14-0 lead. Then, after forcing two interceptions, they pinned Hampton at the two, which became the one after a Hampton personal foul. The defense capitalized on the situation through Carson Pierce tackling Hampton running back Brock Borgo in the endzone for a safety, and on the ensuing safety kick, Joe Desabato returned it to the house on the final play of the first quarter to make it 23-0. Borgo scampered for a 30 yard touchdown to cut Hampton’s deficit to 23-8, but that would be the only blemish on the Titans’ performance. Shaler would go on to add 20 more points in the second quarter, highlighted by Keegan Smetanka touchdown passes to Desabato and Brandon London. Shaler pulled their starters after the first half as the mercy rule went into effect.
Final Stats:
