Football

In an unfortunate turn of events, the Franklin Regional Panthers dominated the Shaler Area Titans to win 55-7. The Titans could not get anything going on either side of the ball. Franklin Regional running backs Kyle Dupill and Jude Gentile ran all over the Titans. Combined with the sparse, yet effective passing of quarterback Chase Lemke, it proved too difficult for the Titan defense to handle. The highlight of the day was the Titans’ opening drive, where quarterback Keegan Smetanka found Brandon London for a splash play and then connected with wide receiver Joe Desabato for a 38 yard touchdown. When Smetanka was not running for his life, he was an effective passer, going 6/10 for 126 yards and one touchdown and one interception. However, Smetanka will be looking to prove this game was an outlier going forward. For this Titans team to win next week, they have to get better on both the offensive and defensive lines. Because if they cannot, Woodland Hills will run Shaler out of Titan Stadium and spoil homecoming.
