Boys Basketball

Shaler Area opened up its season with a comfortable 79-59 win over Bethel Park. The Titans were efficient on offense, shooting nearly lights out for stretches at a time. Brandon London was a dominant force, racking up a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Also, Keegan Smetanka had 19 points, and Julian Vizzoca had 16 points, going 80% from behind the arc.

The Titans won the Shaler Area Tip-off Tournament over former section rival Highlands, 53-46. Despite shooting under 30% in the first half and trailing 23-19, the Titans ramped it up in the second half, out-scoring the Golden Rams 34-23. Keegan Smetanka led all scorers with 20 points and Brandon London had another double-double with 12 points and 15 boards.
Girls Basketball

Against the defending 3A Champs, the Titans’ shooting woes contributed to a 42-37 loss to Avonworth. The Titans went 3-21 (14%) from behind the arc and also went 4-12 (33%) from the free throw line. Bayleigh Perez and Hanna Dejidas led the Titans in scoring with 10 points each. Dejidas also led the team with 5 steals. Freshman Reese Smetanka had 8 points and 5 rebounds.

Playing the 2nd ranked team in 5A, the Titans battled in a back-and-forth contest. Moon gained some separation early and held off the Titans 41-34. The Titans were led in scoring by Hilary Quinn with 9 points.
Hockey

Hockey took their first loss of the season against Meadville by a score of 5-4. Goals were scored by Jake Kunc, Darius Malecki, and Chase Irwin
Boys Bowling

Boys Bowling picked up a win in the first match of the season against Nazareth Prep by a score of 7-0. The Titans were led by Braden Scott with a score of 678 and Tyler Woistman with a 641 in each of their three series.
Girls Bowling

Girls Bowling took a 7-0 win against Nazareth Prep because Nazareth Prep could not field a team. So, the Titans played individual matches, highlighted by Brooke Callahan with a 504 in her three game series.
Wrestling

Boys Wrestling kicked off their season with a tournament up at Chartiers-Houston. As a team, the Titans placed 13th out of 24 teams. Individually, Jacob Cable placed 6th in the 160 lb. weight class, Anthony Jones placed 3rd in the 107 lb. weight class, and Vito Barravecchio placed 4th in the 215 lb. weight class.
