In the WPIAL Quarterfinals, Shaler Area outdueled Bethel Park, 35-26, to advance to the WPIAL Semifinals. Keegan Smetanka led the Titans in scoring with 12 points, but it was the defense that paved the way for Shaler Area’s victory Thursday night. The game was a low-scoring slugfest for most of the contest, but the Titans saved their best for the fourth quarter. Joey Miller hit the biggest shot in the game to give Shaler Area a 27-24 lead early in the fourth; but, it was the Titans that slowed the pace of play, locked down Bethel Park’s offense, and made clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
