Shaler Area defeated Greencastle-Antrim 73-58 in the first round of the PIAA 5A boys basketball playoffs. After a slow start, trailing 18-12 after a rough first quarter buzzer-beater, the Titans started knocking down shots and forcing Blue Devil turnovers. Keegan Smetanka scored for the Titans early and often, contributing 21 points in one of his best efforts all season. Brandon London and Kaden Orga each added 13 points, London with a double-double, but it was the fast pace and generally turnover-free play by Shaler Area that propelled the team to the last 16 remaining in the 5A classification of Pennsylvania. The Titans take on Mechanicsburg, the champions of District 3, 6 pm Tuesday night at Altoona high school.
