The holiday season is quickly approaching, which gets everyone in the holiday spirit. Whether that holiday spirit is stressed or excited, everybody will feel some sort of strong emotion during this upcoming holiday season.
Many may feel stressed as they may be hosting Thanksgiving or Christmas or perhaps both at their own house. When hosting a holiday, especially a big gathering with your whole extended family, a lot of planning for huge dinners is a big factor to one being stressed.
Everybody has different food tastes and when a huge group of people gather in one place to eat, not everybody is going to be satisfied with their meal, and I am one of those people.
Me, as many others are very picky. I personally think turkey is the grossest thing ever and it should never be served on a holiday ever again.
For one, turkey takes way too long to make. It is a whole process and anyone who hosts these holidays with turkey knows what I’m talking about with the prep of the turkey then the wait for it to cook.
The prep of the turkey is one of the most violating processes I have ever seen and on top of that one of the most time-consuming things ever.
Cooking the turkey means you have to get your hands dirty and physically stuff it yourself, which is so weird. It is not worth the wait of the cook, which if it’s a small bird can be up to 3 hours; so just imagine the bigger the bird the longer you wait. And the prep process that involves stuffing the bird and preparing it, and nobody wants to do that process.
Without cooking this bird everybody can replace it with something else, like ham. It would save so much of their own time.
Ham isn’t as popular compared to turkey on a holiday like Thanksgiving, but nobody rarely hears about anyone hating ham that often. Ham tastes very good plain, and can also be dressed up to make it taste how you want.
Going off the texture, the texture of turkey is simply just so bad. Even if the turkey is made good it is just so chewy and the flavor is so bland. Even when I tried to eat it before it had to be coated in gravy for me to even kind of like it, but at that point I’m just eating gravy. I tried and tried to eat it, but I physically can’t.
It is seriously so easy to overcook, when the turkey is roasting it is so easy to lose track and dry out the turkey because these birds are huge, even if you are cooking the smaller ones, they take forever to roast; which makes it a pain to cook.
While it’s easy to overcook, it’s also very easy to undercook. The process goes the same with cooking these large birds and anyone can very easily lose track. Undercooking these birds can lead to potential dangers such as salmonella, clostridium perfringens, campylobacter, and other germs.
These potential germs can cause serious illnesses and nobody wants to get sick or have the blame of getting someone sick, if you were the one who made the turkey.
Replacing turkey with ham would be the most beneficial choice as the texture is much better and the taste isn’t bland. You don’t need gravy to make the food taste somewhat good and if you don’t like gravy; well you’re out of luck, especially if there’s cranberry sauce, which is also gross.
